Community Spotlight: Justin Williams

Every month we feature the work of one of our members, who range from business owners to artists to nonprofit leaders. This month we sat down with the Justin Williams, co-owner of Bowers Plumbing. Who are your customers/community and how do they find you? What lessons have you learned building a customer base/community?

Who are your customers/community and how do they find you? What lessons have you learned building a customer base/community?

The great thing about working with Bowers Plumbing is that we are locally owned. We operate not only in Pierce County, but all over the Puget Sound region—from Seattle to Olympia, and quite a few in between and outside of this, including the East Side and Peninsula. We can be found online at www.bowersplumbingllc.com, via social media sites such as Facebook at www.facebook.com/bowersplumbingllc, or by calling us anytime at (253)218-1410. We got into business for ourselves, so that we could provide the kind of service we would like to receive. In the last 3 years we have found that simply by taking good care of our clients, we have been able to grow our client base to over 500 families as well as several businesses, most of which we earned by word of mouth.

Tell us about one of the biggest obstacles you have faced in your work and how you overcame it:

The biggest obstacle for us has been availability—as a small company, both Joe and I are very conscious of how important being available on short notice is. That being said, both he and I are dedicated to being on-call 24/7, and we have grown our team to the point where we can provide same day service for most issues.

Where do you see the work/venture five years from now?

We have been working hard to leverage our business relationships, and are currently looking to expand to Eastern Washington as well, to provide more coverage on the North and Sound end of Puget Sound. In five years, we hope to be able to provide service throughout the entire Puget Sound region.

What motivates you?

Being known as an advocate and a trusted resource is the entire reason we got into business. We want customers and colleagues to feel confident that we are looking out for their best interests, because we understand that if we take good care of them, they will be our advocate and send their friends and family our way.

If you could talk to one person from history, who would it be and why?

I would like to meet Diogenes, anyone brave enough to tell Alexander the Great to get out of his light is good enough for me. I try and bring this mentality into the world every day. No matter how great or small we might be, we all deserve the warmth of the sun, and no man should presume to block us from the light of the day, so shine on, you crazy diamond.

What made you choose Union Club? What has your experience been like and who would you recommend it for?

I chose the Union Club because of the wonderful ambiance of the space. It is a very conducive environment, one in which we can foster our nascent business, while also building new relationships with other like-minded professionals. The experience has been great. I have utilized several other business services here at the Club, and have likewise been able to help several colleagues with their plumbing needs. We would recommend the Union Club to anyone, and I often do!

Where can people go to support your business/organization or buy your product?
